Artists Kristin Rehder, C. David Thomas, and Torrance York will be joined by two scientists from the SLU faculty, Dr. Ana Y. Estevez and Dr. Joe Erlichman.
Dr. Ana Y. Estevez is a neuroscientist with research interests in ion channel physiology and neurodegeneration. She earned a B.S. in Psychobiology from Binghamton University and the Ph.D. in Physiology from Wayne State University. Her research studies the small nematode worm C. elegans or cultured neorons as model systems to identify potential therapeutic targets for the treatment of stroke and other neurodegenerative diseases.
Dr. Joe Erlichman earned his B.S. and M.S. from the University of Colorado (Boulder) and the Ph. D from Dartmouth Medical School. He teaches the courses Introduction to Neuroscience, Advanced Neuroscience, and Human Anatomy and Physiology. His recent research investigates the development of nanotechnology products which may play an important part in adding new therapeutics in the treatment of diseases whose etiology derives from oxidative stress.
